Today, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal administered the oath of office to 37 POST-certified El Paso County deputies during the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy 24-3 Graduation Ceremony at New Life Church in Colorado Springs.
Also graduating were four deputies from the Teller County Sheriff’s Office, two deputies from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, one deputy from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, one officer from the City of Fountain Police Department, and two officers from the Colorado State Parole.
The 47 upstanding new deputies and law enforcement officers are the sixth class to graduate from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy with a 24-week POST certification requirement since Sheriff Roybal took office in January 2023.
“I am extremely excited to welcome these 47 upstanding individuals to the law enforcement community of Colorado,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “For the past 24 weeks, these men and women have worked diligently, demonstrating dedication, technical skill, strength, and passion in serving and protecting their community. I thank Sheriffs Mikesell, Cooper, and Speckman, Chief Cristiani, and Director Wolfsgruber for their continued confidence in my Regional Training Academy and assure them-their recruits are highly prepared for successful careers.
“Congratulations, Recruit Class 24-3, and welcome to the family!”
The next Regional Training Academy POST-certified class is scheduled to graduate in the Summer of 2025. Once again, multiple state-wide law enforcement agencies will be represented.
