The Sheriff's Office will be unveiling a pink wrapped patrol car on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 10:00 AM, in front of the Office of the Sheriff, located at 27 E. Vermijo Avenue to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Pink Patch Project.

This is the fourth consecutive year the Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Fraternal Order of Police – Lodge 9 to raise funds for the Pink Patch Project.  The Pink Patch Project is an innovative campaign designed to increase public awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds for the fight against the disease.  The project has since grown into a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chief’s Association (LACPCA) and over 360 registered public safety agencies throughout the United States and internationally (Spain and France).

Each participating agency designs a vibrant pink version of their agency’s uniform patch.  Officers wear the pink patches on their uniforms throughout the month of October during “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”.  The pink patches encourage public awareness within the community about early detection and treatment in the fight against this disease.  As a part of this program, participating agencies also sell pink patches, shirts, coins, and other items to the community.  This year, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has gone a step further by wrapping a pink, custom designed patrol car.  The wrap was generously donated by Watts Upfitting, Blue Line Design, Federal Signal, and AccuFix.

Proceeds from the sale of the commemorative items will be donated to the Memorial Hospital Foundation - Circle of Hope Fund.  The Circle of Hope Fund provides direct financial assistance to cancer patients to offset the costs of the disease and treatment.
