On December 19, 2024, at approximately 6:56 pm, a call for service came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center at a residence located in the 1800 block of Pima Road in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal issued the following statement in observance of Christmas and the New Year:

Recently, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit received a $15k donation from God’s Pantry Ministry, a non-profit organization in El Paso County.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a “shots fired” call for service near the 3800 block of Astrozon Blvd. in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statues 16-2.5-301 and the Forth Judicial District Deadly Force Investigation Memorandum of Understanding, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has assumed the investigation into the Officer Involved Shooting which occurred in the area of the 5600 Block of Bucks

On December 12, 2024, 63-year-old, Ivan Sundheim, a former Deputy Sheriff with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Spring, Texas and booked into the Harris County Jail where he is being held without bond.   He is charged with Human Traffickin

In April, Sheriff Roybal obtained approval from the Board of County Commissioners for funding to construct a new Sheriff’s substation in the Falcon area of unincorporated El Paso County. This facility will serve the eastern and northern parts of the county.

Today, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) conducted a full-scale mass casualty training exercise at the El Paso County Jail. The scenario was set in our jail's kitchen after an explosion and subsequent fire.

On December 7, 2024, Paul Mynatt, a Lieutenant with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, was arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department and booked into the Teller County Jail where he is held without bond.
