On December 26, 2023, at approximately 7:42 a.m., a 44-year-old adult male was found unresponsive and not breathing in his assigned, single occupancy cell.

On December 8, 2023, the 4th Judicial District Court accepted a plea from 69-year-old Robert Henry Gordon for Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, Unlawful Sexual Contact, and Enticement of a Child.

As the lead investigating agency, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office provides the following additional information to the original media release provided by the Colorado Springs Police Department:

On December 17, 2023, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at an address in the 8100 block of Piute Rd in unincorporated El Paso County.

This afternoon, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal administered the oath of office to 21 POST Certified El Paso County Deputy Recruits, and two Teller County Sheriff’s Office Recruits, during the Class 23-3 Graduation Ceremony in Colorado Springs.

On 12/12/23, the El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the identities of the deceased found by deputies after the reported shooting on Akawi Way.  They are: 54-year-old Desiree N. Vandelac, 57-year-old Robert V. Vandelac, and 30-year-old Debray A. Scott.

On 12/6/23, at 11:40 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received report of a shooting in the 21000 block of Akawi Way, in unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal issued the following statement in honor of Thanksgiving: 

Today, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with law enforcement agencies across the Pikes Peak region to carry out a coordinated two-phase operation.

In accordance with Colorado law, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that Michael Raymond Graham will be moving into the community and is registered at 534 Loomis Ave. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906 in the jurisdiction of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
