Commander Chris Gonzalez
Chris Gonzalez is originally from the Great State of Texas. Before joining the Office, he worked as a construction manager across the US. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently in the Master of Public Policy and Administration Program at Colorado State University.
Chris joined the Office in 2003 and served in Detentions Floor Security, Patrol, SWAT, and the Crime Reduction Unit. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and supervised a Patrol shift, Emergency Services, and was a SWAT Team leader. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2016 and managed the Intake/Release Section, Patrol Section, Wildland Fire Group, Civil Unit, Mounted Unit, Rural Enforcement and Outreach Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, Chaplains Unit, Language Services Unit, and Sheriff’s Citizens Patrol Unit. Chris was promoted to Commander in 2023 and currently commands the Law Enforcement Operations Division. Chris also helps the Training Section as a full skills firearms instructor as well as teaching in the POST recruit academy, sworn and professional staff in-service, and the Office’s leadership development program.
