It is with immeasurable pride and unfathomable grief that we remember the incredible sacrifice that Micah made in service to our community and country.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) and the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) are now accepting applications for our Spring Spanish Speaking Citizens’ Academy.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Assistance Program is seeking motivated individuals to join the ranks of a dedicated, compassionate unit. The Volunteer Assistance Program is composed of citizen volunteers who work with the staff victim advocates to assist crime victims with short-term crisis intervention, information and referrals. These men and women provide: referrals for victims’ compensation and counseling, inform victims of case status, victim rights and help with property return assistance. They also ensure the rights and needs of victims are addressed by department personnel, and attend victim/law enforcement groups on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an Open House on Monday, February 5th 2018, at 6:30 PM at the Office of the Sheriff, 27 E. Vermijo Avenue.  This event is open to all members of the community who have an interest in learning about this unique opportunity. Members of the media are also welcome to attend. Guests will have the opportunity to receive information and speak with several members about their experiences in the Program.

The proposed 12-week Training Academy is slated to begin on Monday, April 16th, 2018. More detailed information regarding the application and academy process will be detailed during the presentation at the Open House.

Applications are available on-line and should be mailed or delivered to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Volunteer Program Coordinator, 27 E. Vermijo Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Applications must be received no later than Friday, February 9, 2018 by 5:00pm.

On January 17, 2018, at approximately 3:00 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responding to a call in the 1600 block of Hampton South, regarding a stabbing in progress. When deputies arrived on scene they located the victim who was lying on the ground and he had been stabbed.

On December 2, 2017, at approximately 6:00 PM, officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) contacted a male in the vicinity of South Nevada Avenue and East Navajo Street. 

The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of another scam.  In these new cases the suspects are using the name of Sergeant Price.  The messages range from having warrants out for their arrest to civil judgments, in addition to missing a court date.  We have had over 20 reports of this scam

In May 2017, the Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit began an investigation on a Sexual Assault case.  The suspect in this case has been identified as licensed minister Romello Leach, DOB: 04/13/95.

On November 3, 2017, at approximately 6:05 PM, three suspects entered the Walmart located at 11550 Meridian Market View in Falcon, CO.  The suspects stole two iPad Pros at this location and are reported to have stolen over $4,000 in electronics from four Walmart's in the Colorado Springs/Monume

On October 24, 2017, a 72-year-old male in custody at the El Paso County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 0500 hours.  Lifesaving efforts were conducted both by in- house personnel and medical first responders.  They were unable to resuscitate the male and he was pronoun
